SthalCam: GPS Camera, an Android app by GSK Studio
Last updated: October 23, 2026
GSK Studio ("we", "us", or "our") operates the SthalCam mobile application (the "App"). The App is a GPS camera: it takes photos and adds your location, address, date and time to them. This page explains what the App uses, where your information is kept, and the choices available to you.
In short: SthalCam does not collect your personal information. Your photos, your location and your settings stay on your phone. The App has no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no server of ours. The only time information leaves your phone because of the App is the address lookup, explained below.
No account required
SthalCam does not ask you to create an account, sign in, or provide your name, email address or phone number.
What the App uses, and why
- Camera — to take your photos.
- Precise and approximate location (only while the App is open) — to show your coordinates and GPS accuracy, to look up the address, and to print them on your photo and save them in the photo's information (EXIF). The App never reads your location in the background.
- Compass and motion sensors — to show the direction you are facing and to keep the stamp upright when you hold the phone sideways. This is used on the phone only and is not stored or sent anywhere.
- Internet — only for the address lookup described below.
- Storage (only on Android 9 and older) — to save your photos into the phone gallery. Newer Android versions do not need this permission.
- Vibration and sound — an optional shutter sound and vibration when you take a photo. Both can be switched off in Settings.
Information stored only on your device
The following stays on your own phone and is never sent to us or to any server we control:
- Your photos, saved in your gallery in an album called "SthalCam"
- Working copies of your latest photos, kept in the App's own private storage so you can view and share them quickly (older copies are deleted automatically)
- Your settings, such as your custom text, the stamp layout and size, coordinate format, resolution and the on/off options
Uninstalling the App removes its settings and working copies. Photos already saved in your gallery stay there until you delete them.
Address lookup
To turn your coordinates into a street address, the App asks the address service that is part of your Android phone. On most phones this service is provided by Google (or by the phone maker) and works over the internet, so your coordinates are sent to that service to get the address back. This is handled by Android, not by a server of ours, and we never see the coordinates or the address. How the service handles the request is described in its provider's privacy policy (for Google, see the Google Privacy Policy).
With no internet connection the App still works, and the photo shows the coordinates without an address. If you do not want coordinates to be sent for the address lookup, you can switch the address off in Settings, or use the phone in airplane mode.
Advertising and tracking
The App does not show ads and does not use analytics, crash-reporting or tracking tools. We do not sell or share your data, because we do not have it.
Sharing your photos
The App has a share button. When you use it, the photo is handed to the app you choose (for example WhatsApp or email), using your phone's own share menu. From then on, that app's privacy policy applies. Please remember that your photo shows your location, address, date and time on the picture, and the location is also saved inside the file. Check this before sending a photo to someone.
Your choices
- Delete photos: on the recent photos screen, select photos and tap the bin icon. This removes them from the App and from your phone gallery. You can also delete them from your gallery at any time.
- Permissions: you can turn the camera or location permission off at any time in your phone's Settings, under Apps, SthalCam, Permissions. The App will then not be able to take photos or show your location.
- Uninstall: removes the App's settings and working copies, as described above.
Children's privacy
SthalCam is a general tool and is not directed at children. Because the App does not collect personal information, nothing is collected from anyone, including children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us using the details below.
Data security
Your photos and settings stay on your phone, so their security depends on your phone's own protection, such as a screen lock. We take care that the App does not send them anywhere, but no method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Future changes
If we introduce new features in the future — for example advertising, analytics or optional in-app purchases — this policy will be updated to reflect exactly what information those features involve, and the updated version will be posted here with a new "Last updated" date before the change takes effect.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
